Voice Lessons My technique of teaching is based on the Italian ‘Bel Canto’ (beautiful singing) school of voice training. The emphasis is placed on the freedom of articulation through correct vowel positioning, and the proper development of breathing and support to insure the production of a smooth, legato vocal line. The theory: The vowel carries the sound, and the way to improve the carrying power and beauty of the singing voice is to train the vowel. The vocal exercises are an element of the entire vocal instructional program. The application of
correct tone placement as learned through practice of the exercises
is geared to produce the best possible tone quality in a particular voice.
Further explanation by the teacher is necessary. The transfer of this
sound into language and eventually expression and interpretation must
be monitored by the teacher for as many sessions as are needed to insure
the automatic emission of the vowel with the connection of the breath
support. After the establishment of the correct vowel placement with the
breath support, the CD exercises can then serve as a daily maintenance
program. |
